I HAVE A 2001 THAT BASED 325 NO MODS AT ALL I DID LONG TUBS FULL EXHAUST AND A LID IT THEN DID 358 HP THEN I DID A CAM AND UNDERDRIVE PULLEY AND MADE 415 HP. IF YOU WANT SOME REALLY GOOD ADVICE GET RID OF THE FLOW AND GO WITH ANEYTHING ELSE THEY REALLY DO BOG YOU DOWN I WATCHED A CAMED SS GAIN 22.4 HP WHEN WE REPLACED THE FLOW WITH A MAGNAFLOW THE FLOW IS NOT A GOOD PERFORMANCE MOVE FOR THE LS1 BUT THEY DO SOUND GOOD IF YOUR NOT WORRIED ABOUT THE POWER THAT MUCH

RedE: You're close on gears.

Auto cars did come with 2.73's and a 3.23 option on auto cars, but all 6-speed cars came with 3.42's.

And these cars can gain a lot from small, relatively inexpensive mods. A full exhaust and intake with a tune will put you about 340-350 whp and 350ish torque

The camaro's and Firbirds both came 2.73's standard with 3.23's optional.

"does engines make allot hp with some mods"
That depends on what you do to them... Texas Speed makes a cam called Magic Stick 4 that's good for 80hp (peek hp to the crank). They're head/cam package with the MS4 nets +129hp to the crank.
STS turbo kit = aprox 500whp.

There's a video of a 17xxwhp Firebird on a dyno. The exhaust sends a large fan flying out of the shop door lol

It basically is stock. K&N filter is good for maybe 1-2 hp and a Flowmaster muffler is absolutely no gain. My car had one on it when I got it (that was the only mod) and it dyno'd the exact same as some bone stock cars.

And sy#512: part of the reason it takes so long to rev up is because it's going from probably around 40 to 130+. Camaros have some long gears.
