no they did not, sbc engines used 2 piece through 85, 86 and newer used 1 piece rear main seals, and 1 piece rubber oil pan gaskets, he wanted to know what front oil pan gasket to use, which means he has a 4 piece oil pan seal from a pre-86 setup. And as I said before they used a thick and a thin seal in front depending and the year. I work for GM and my last post came from the chevrolet parts interchange manual.

He said it was a 2 piece rear main. 55-74 and 75-85 used a 1 piece rear main.

cbr600rr, engines from 55-74 used the thin 1/4" seal 75-85 used the thick 3/8" seal. If you don't know what year the pan is from, if you measure with a straight edge from the pan rails to the deepest spot in the front seal dip it measures 2 1/4" for the 1/4" seal and 2 3/8" for the 3/8. I had a 350 rocket in my 73 Omega back in the day. They dont make alot of parts for the rocket engines, but man, they make some pretty good torque right outta the factory for what they were. Anyway, good luck with the cutlass.

CBR600rr....If its a 2 piece rear main AND has 4 bolt mains, then it should be a post 86 model truck engine unless it has had the mains drilled. You should be able to look up a late 80's to early 90's chevy truck engine at your local parts store to find out what front seal you need. I'm not 100% positive as I've been outta the chevy scene for about 8 or 9 years now though.

by the way, do u know how i can tell if my front seal (oil pan gasket) is the thin or thick one? 350- 4 bolt main, 2 piece rear main seal.

it might be a 350, but it aint no rocket! lol, badass car though.
