the upcoming rs5 is meant to compete against the m3, this is a correct comparison. just like the rs4 sedan is meant to compete with the m3 sedan.

I agree 730917. The S5 was desighned to compete directly against the M3 E92. "Sink or Swim"

Rubish! The Rival for the S5 is the M3, and nothing else. The S5 was made to beat the M3. If it could not, sorry for Audi.

No, not 100hp. Its like 60whp - 70bhp. Still a good gain, but not 100hp.

"...keep it fair. Put a v8 vs a v8"??? Ok, that makes sense. Lets put a Lotus Exige against a Civic SI...they are both 4 cylinders.

Its not about cylinder count, its about power to weight. This was a good match up. If this 335I can beat the S5, then the M3 with over a 100 more hp would a destroy it.

I agree... keep it fair. Put a v8 vs a v8. If the 335 beat the S5.... i'd luv to see what the new M3 would do!

496891: You don't know much about the physics involved in racing, do you? Or about the driving characteristics of an AWD car.

Drifting around a corner is slower than picking the optimal line and staying flat through it. The more sideways a car gets, the more forward progress is lost through the turn. The Quattro AWD system in the Audi has slight understeer built-in, which doesnt allow the rear to kick out as easily. Thats a good thing, as long as it is not excessive understeer, which is just as bad as excessive oversteer as the car is not traveling forward, but rather sideways. Your logic does not concur with basic physics...thats undeniable.
