i wouldn't call it a race because it wasn't. and is your mini stock? cause if it is....no you really wouldn't smoke a 24v VR6. you may have him off the line, but from a roll or a higher speed run, not gonna happen.

I wouldnt call it a race when your both starting at different speeds. my mini would smoke a stock vr6. so get off the vdub pole.

The GTI in this video is Imola Yellow, which makes it a 20th AE, so it had the 180hp 1.8t with a 6spd manual. GTIs and Cooper S' are pretty similar in quickness, i would bet the 20th wasn't even racing. ps, the 24v VR6 had 200hp
