Damn, where to start. Ok, first up. The deal was i couldnt do anything to the car if my grandparents paid 4 the car. So i tried doing things that couldnt be seen. So i installed my 2 Kicker Comp VR's to my stock headunit using a special adapter. It actually sounded badass! Then i said screw it, and started to buy stuff for it. The first mod was the headunit. An Alpine CDA 9827. As soon as i hooked it up, the subs didnt hit as hard, even with EQ tuning. So then i learned the the way i had it hooked to the factory unit puts out a stronger signal than aftermarket RCA hookups. I went through 3 sub amps. 1st was a bazooka 500 watt, then an alpine 700watt, and finally a Rockford Fosgate 1500 watt. The bazooka took a shit, and the alpine just didnt have the right RMS power for my 2ohm subs. That Rockford was an absolute beast! It lasted the lifetime of the car, then died when i let my buddy use it. Shortly after, i bought new speakers. Polk 6x9 DB690's (Great F*in speaker) and some oversized 6 3/4 pioneer TS-A1780's in the front (Nice speaker for a Coaxial) Then one day i was messing with the amp wiring, and blew up my head unit. So i got an Alpine CDA-9833 for my birthday (BADASS headunit!) So for a long time i thought i was sounding pretty damn good.......but i wanted more! So i went 4 channel amp shopping. Found a badass 4 channel amp from Infinity. 111 watts rms per channel!!! After that, the sound quality was incredible!!! Until i cranked it to a point that my front coaxials just couldnt take the abuse like my rear Polks with 100 watt rms handling. So i started my front component speaker project. First i bought a set of Polk DB6750's (BADASS speakers!) but found they didnt fit quite right in the door holes (the mounting bracket was too small) so i attempted to make a wood backplate, but failed due to lack of proper tools. So i had a local custom shop take care of it for me. They couldnt provide the mounts for my tweeters tho, so i had to handle that part. I went to mitsubishi and ordered a set of tweeter mounts from a premium model galant that had factory tweets. Took em home, wired em up and was good to go and clean as a pro.....for the moment. I started having issues with the component speakers cutting off at mid volume. Checked all my wiring (which involved pulling the interior apart) and couldnt find any fault. Then i read about Infiniti's model amp i had having problems running components due to a ohm issue. So here i am up shits creek needing a new amp. So i bought the next best amp i could find at local electronic stores (didnt feel like ordering online again...took too long) which was a MTX 50watt RMSx4 amp. Still a potent little thing and had no problems running my components. and that was what it had in it when i traded it in.
