rx7s are one of the only imports i would acually buy. they are made really well and look good to but i dont know of any rotory engine capable of over 2000 hp there are plenty of drag cars with v8s pushing 6000 to 8000 hp in the top tier of drag racing.but in a street car i guess i comes down to how big ur bank account is for superiority.and u can get a big block piston engine well over 1000 hp na

If you compare how much gas the 1.3 liter RX-7 chews at WOT compared to the 4.6 Supercharged at WOT they're actually about even. A Rotary is no miracle of science, you're still limited to the potential energy held within gasoline. One converts the fuel to mechanical energy differently.
That Cobra is heavy, but it is a convertible... girls love convertibles. An RX-7 is a sexy beast btw, I'd take them both please.

lol this is rediculous. i cant believe someone said the v8 is superior to the rotory engine have you even ever heard of a 4 rotor rx7? look it up theres lots on this site try getting any piston engine on the planet normally aspirated to push well over 600 horse especially at 2.6 litres lol nothing can touch that do some research cause even at that level of power since its not turbo charged they are super reliable too. and the cobra was racing they just dont rev to 9 grand like the rotory so it sounds like the rx7 was givin er way harder how bout do some research befor posting yer comments. or how bout if you dont know what your talking about then just dont post and look up those videos 3 and 4 rotor cars itl change yer perspective

I agree....Value is where the Rx-7 shined when it first came to the market. Thats the reason why it was car of the year when it came to shores in 1993. Playboy magazine rated the Rx-7 over the Dodge Viper citing, it was a better car.

you'd rather have a device that Robs you of power, decreases fuel economy at idle by over 40%...and have a limitation on power overall? Have you noticed why all the 1000hp Supras are Turbocharged?
Turbos are free power driven by exhaust gases...you cant get any smarter than that. 30 MPH in vacuum...a hell of a rush in boost. It's the only way of life.

They were both obviously both racing and clearly thr RX7 won.End of story.I have an RX7 and paid $13,000 and I have yet to be beaten by any car in that price range! You get a lot of performance for very little money with the 3rd gen RX7.And they are just as reliable as the next car if you take care of them and do the modifications in the right order. And whoever was comparing the RX8 to the 3rd gen RX7 is a little off in the head, it is like comparing the entry level mustang to the Cobra SVT!
