i use to own a gti 1.8t and i put alot of money in mods into that and just a few bolt-ons (mbc,exhasut,intake)i got my gti beat by alot for alot less money and ntn has broke yet on the srt-4 for the time ive had it.

Well, saf26, since they haven't made the "neon" SRT-4 since 2005, you can grab an '03 for as low as $12K and it's already boosted. Spend $5K on a Mopar stage 3 kit (bigger turbo, boost controller, CPU, injectors, wastegate, etc) and an intake and exhaust plus a couple other bolt-ons and you will have a monster car running 11s for $17k that is also a nice car. It may have roll-down rear windows but at least it wont have those crappy VW window regulators that go bad and have to be replaced every 6 mos lol. And yeah, stock internals can handle up to 500 HP.

so we're playing this game now huh? you could also buy a blown engine fox body for cheap, say ummm 1000 and put a ls1 with a cam in it + 150 shot some suspension mods = 10's mabe even 9's i dont know just making up crap. point is you can make things fast for cheap but different things for different people. for instance you could even save up and buy a 1000000$ enzo and run 9's or 10's but who would want to go that route when you could buy "like such as the vw and other asian countries....b/c soma people dont have maps"

well since people are rambling on, I might as well join in. Sure an Srt-4 is fast and only about 21K new, and I know if you were to by a VR6 jetta/golf now it would have to be used since the only new VR's are in TT's, R32's and Passats. But even if you bought a 2001 12V for say 10K, put in another 3-5k for boosting the car, you're saving yourself about 7-10K and you're still driving a nice car. and stock internals on a VR can hold up at about 450 WHP...so

And SLVRMKV you have no business saying a SRT-4 is not that fast when you drive golf. C'mon now people!! Hmm stock SRT-4 vs stock golf, gti, vr6, r32, whatever..... :-)

Yeah maybe you saw a vid of a stage 3 running mid 12s, but that doesn't mean they can't run low 12s or high 11s. I have seen stage 3s run 11s with only a few bolt-ons.
