That's exactly my point, import sports cars weren't around in the 60's, and the ones that were in the 70's aren't still in production.

If you look closer, you'll notice I never said anything bad about Honda. The S2000 happens to be one of my favorite roadsters, within the top 3. The NSX is also one of my favorite cars, they handle so well.

I was just explaining why FWD will never be on the same level of performance as RWD, and how 4-bangers aren't the be-all-end-all like so many ricers (not import fans) think they are. I'd probably own an RSX right now if they were RWD.

I have no problem with imports, there's a rivalry between import and domestic like it used to be Ford and Chevy. Ricers and retards are the ones I have a problem with, whether the drive a CRX or a Mustang.

first of all most import sports cars weren't out in the 60's, it wasn't until the 70's
Honda can make excellent rear drive cars like the NSX and S2000 they are just pretty expensive

Man you guys kill me. I don't care if your car holds some value for 5 years. Show me one import sports car that has been around for 44 years like the Mustang, or over 50 like the Corvette. And by the way, most Japanese companies' cars sold in the US.... Are made in the US.

Let the 2009 Skyline have 500 horsepower and enough turbo lag to watch a football game, the next top-performance versions of the Corvette and Viper will have over 600.

FWD cars are not performance cars no matter what you say, they're not designed for it. When a vehicle accelerates forwards, weight shifts to the rear (an object in motion tends to stay in motion, and object at rest tends to stay at rest - the vehicle is resisting motion). This inevitably takes weight OFF the front wheels of the car which are the drive wheels, resulting in less traction (giant wings only make this problem worse, to any genius with a racing wing on their civic). Also under cornering, FWD cars have an incredible tendancy to understeer, or the inability to change direction. This happens because the front wheels of the car are attempting to pull the weight of the vehicle and change its direction at the same time, but the tires can only offer so much traction to do this with.

RWD cars on the other hand have an advantage, because weight shifts onto the drive wheels. Also RWD cars will oversteer more than understeer, which is much more controllable than understeer.

As for engine types... V8's tend to have a smoother, flatter torque and powerbands than straight 4's or straight sixes. They also tend to maintain torque and power better throughout the rpm-range. Anything can be made fast though, and if it's fast it's fast whatever it is. But if your four-bangers really were better (and believe me, there are plenty of you that think because your car has 4 cylinders it's somehow a race car), wouldn't they be used in professional racing instead of V8's, V10's, and V12's? NHRA doesn't use them. NASCAR doesn't use them. GT/LM Series cars don't use them. Formula One series cars don't use them.

Just some food for thought.
