The LS2 6.0L found in the 2005-2006 GTO is 360 cubic inches . The LS1 is a 5.78L if carried it out to the hundredth place or 347 cubic inches. The new LS3 is actually a 6.26L or 376 cubic inches. The LS7 in the C6 Z06 is actually a 7.11L but it doesn't sound good so they just call it a 7 Liter. The manufacturers are not totally technical when they describe there engines. They go with what sounds good.

60 Cubic inches per litre x 6.6 = roughly 400 CI. The 455 was not available in a pontiac in 1977 unless you would put one in yourself. Pontiac gave the production company 7 new non modified T/A's for filming. The production company had 2 modified for the jump and the rest were left stock except for camera mounts, etc.

The 77 T/A in the movie had the 6.6 (400 CI) engine. They used 4 speed cars and automatics depending on the scene. I don't believe the cars hp was increased except for the jump cars. Ultimately all of the cars were destroyed during filming.

I think they could pull off a remake with the WS6 Trans Am.

You can hear the crowd in the video! If the crowd has nothing to come and see, they will stop coming. Everyone loves a good burnout.

The exact location was on route 665 between route 104 and route 23 about a mile before you cross the Scioto river. Heading east on 665 the cars were located on the right side of the road as you entered the first 90 degree bend. I believe there is a dirt road to a canoe livery that parallels the property. I have not visited the area in about 4 years so things may have changed. The cars have been completely removed.

Thanks for posting the information Andy.

So what do think Andy, did the video represent the majority of cars? The sad thing is, the back of the lot had 20 or so steal racks with fenders, doors, bumpers, etc. Remember the big pile of stainless trim? This was probably the biggest pontiac barn find to date in my opinion.
