im a little interested in the speed that was going. it looked like it hit it pretty hard, and came back a lot more intact than i would expect. but a guy who doesn't watch a lot of crash tests, and given the small amount of screen visible, i think it would be easy for me to miscalculate that speed. but I'm gonna guess taht was a 30mph front test?

Hmm, a guessing game? Ok, I'll bite. What is it? You say it's "going to..." Does "going to" mean that it isn't out yet, or that when the Skyline comes out, it won't have anything on the mystery car your referencing? I'm also a little confused as to why the Skyline came up in this discussion...
Also, I can't figure out what car you're referencing for a number of reasons. You could say it is "#2" for the sake of you that think another car looks better. Statistically, the only car that is faster in a top speed is a SSC Aero, which recently took the top speed title from Bugatti's Veyron. And as I mentioned before, it's a $650,000 USD car, and you have stated that the car is a $100,000 USD car.
So I think I'm going to have to give up?

Thats the first monochromatic Veyron I've seen- beautiful. That sounds wonderful too.
01NBMZ28, if you're talking about the SSC Aero, that's a $650,000 USD car. And you don't get the luxury on the inside or an attractive car. The day I have plenty of money, I'd rather have the Bugatti.

As a Lightning owner, I've always been a fan of the obnoxious "supercharger-whine". I suppose though, that when you drop $100k+, you want a little class. Pretty awesome engine though, this video helps me respect it a lot more.

boxer3main, your profile says youre 35yo. How are you 35 and not know The Godfather? Whatever, just out of touch with society I suppose.
Also, the Audi isn't trying to compete with the Evos, it's trying to complete with the Porsche Carrera 4S. And it does just that.
So no. Nobody's going to listen to you if you don't have your facts straight.

You said slower, and that could mean a lot of things, so I'll start out with 0-60s. Porsche's 2008 Cayenne Turbo does 0-60 in 4.9sec. Mercedes ML63 AMG does 0-60 in 5.0sec, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 0-60 in 5.0sec. 2008 does not have a Cayenne Turbo S, but 2007 did and it did 0-60 in 4.8sec. But "slower" could also mean top speed. The Cayenne S tops out at 155, the Cayenne GTS at 157, the Cayenne Turbo at 171 and last year's Cayenne Turbo S topped out at 167- 2008 is uder construction. The Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 tops out at 155 and the Mercedes ML63 AMG does 155. No, the Cayenne Turbo was not "way slower" than the ML63 or the Jeep SRT8. Faster in 0-60 and much faster top speed. Turbo S is faster than all so price and acceptable and no, it's not slower than any of the prior mentioned. The GTS was meant to be a bridge gapper between the Cayenne S and the Cayenne Turbo. So it is roughly $30k less than the Cayenne Turbo and $12k more than the Cayenne S. You've been mislead.

I'm a porsche fan. And as for Scoobz claiming that this is sooo American, please take into consideration that Porsche is German. So if you want to hate on America, hate on an American company. This is just an ad that is out, man. Don't hate on America because you saw a German car ad in America. Relax.
For my thought on the ad: was this a metaphor for how dogs will bark at each other in the middle of the night? Kind of fun

I dont understand all this "It's nice, but I'd rather buy..." crap. In a perfect world where money is no object, I'm sure most everybody would rather buy something than the 2 cars shown here.
As for FXX coment. I'm just dumbfounded. A lot of what the FXX has going for it is the exclusitivity. Or that it's Ferrari's best. Plus, it's fast as hell. And it's track exclusive. Now, I'm not taking sides over exotics, or domestics, but I think it's silly to bring up another car and say "with this much money, I may be able to do this", when in actuality, you have no idea what you would/could do to the car to make it beat an FXX. Furthermore, what happens if you don't manage to win?

Truth, I dont know how my name is ironic for my criticizing. But not the point. As for my grammatical errors, well, I dont have a nuclear degree- my bad.
And again, I don't need to know about your life. You're calling people out on not being tech inclined, but we dont need to know your lifes story or degree history. I am a 3D animator with a minor in visual effects. You know why I'm not bragging about it here? Because this isn't the place that anybody cares. So my portfolio doesn't interested car fans.
As for your criticism of the video, I'll attack it head on.
1. "they would have to be aided"- they are. the tires are weighted.
2. as for the cord being pulled out by its own weight an motion, I don't know what you mean by that. You can clearly see the cord lifted and then pulled apart. And then the fan stops from the lack of electricity.
3. "the muffler seems to roll a bit to long"- the video was seperated into 2 takes. the muffler was the division between the 2 takes to save cost and space. the scene with the rolling muffler is where the seam is. That was the one editing trick, but not special effects.
4. the balancing board, I'm not sure what youre talking about there.
5. The wipers may have stopped because if they did their job, there would be no more liquid on the windshield.
6. And as for the car turning and stopping, the commercial shows the parts, and the domino effect. By the time the car leaves the platform, the domino is over. Personally, I believe it is okay to have a driver at this point. Or a computer aided driving remote. But that's just me.
Their claim is no special effects, but some "post-production trickery" with the turn lights on the door. I don't know what that encompasses, but that's their claim. And in defense, my claims at your superiority are when you call somebody a "pompous a**" and say that youre more technologically informed because of your degree in an unrelated field. Argue it ifyou please, but I am standing by it until you do.
And after you talk about how amazed you are that I call you out, your post stops making sense. You can rephrase it if it means that much to ya though. Maybe my lack of a nuclear degree is forcing me to not understand?

bimmersupercharged, youre quite the character. There are numerous websites explaining the video, and car companies shell out HUGE amounts of money of advertising. So why should this be any different. I'm guessing that Honda no doubt made back the $6mil since, oh I dunno, the Accord seems to sell okay.
Also, I don't know how you go from a nuclear degree to a tuning shop. Two unrelated feilds, I would assume, but whatever- I digress. I would have expected somebody would claims to be so edjucated, be able to make coherent sentecnces. But you seem to use a series of commas to seperate thoughts. You use those commas in your nuclear reports to the government? Or maybe that's why you tune now? But youre attacking people for their thoughts, and saying your cycnicism is the way things are is kind of dumb. Check out people's evidence and make a statement. Don't attack people who did check out evidence and wave your finger saying "I have a degree in something unrelated so I know!"
Or whatever. Do your own things. But look at how far your superiority got you.

I think the commercial owns. While watching i, I was trying to figure out how they were able to get a camera to follow it- then it turns out to be the M5. Obviously not real but a great ad.
BMW has priding themselves in being a luxury car, this ad is aimed at the consumer looking for a little performance with their luxury. They never made any 800mph claims in this ad, so I don't know how you got that speed from a camera following a car in the salt flats... Also, they made no claims of being the fastest sedan.
As for Mercedes having the fastest sedan, it's Brabus. Albeit, based on a Mercedes body, it's not Mercedes. But Mercedes isn't even mentioned here. Back to the M5. Great ad. Makes the viewer assume something, which is wicked fast, without throwing facts in their faces.

Pretty slick edited that syncs very well with music. Also, I own a True Blue Lightning (pics in my profile), but there is one True Blue that kicks me in the face, at 1:25 in.

I'm not talking about how the rear is higher than the front- as offered by Ford, I mean the passenger side is higher than the driver side.
Good news on the shocks though.

loove the Lightnings. One problem: how severly they torque to the left. It has caused my suspension to shift slightly, and now the passenger bed is raised one inch higher than the driver's side.
It's really not noticable at all, but because it's my baby, I notice. Only way to fix it is a four-link suspension. Keep that in mind.
